Dddesign has created a series of banners for Peckham in South London. The consultancy was hired by Southwark Council to design typographic 'I love Peckham' solutions in 48 languages. Artists Madeline Herbert and Leah Germann created the visuals, displayed on Rye Lane, Peckham.

Ford tries fresh design approach

Ford has unveiled a radical design direction for its European cars, aimed at giving vehicles more visual appeal. The Iosis concept car (pictured below), designed by a team under Martin Smith, Ford of Europe's executive design director, has a trapezoidal 'face', cameras in place of rear view mirrors, LED external lighting that automatically increases in low visibility and a novel door arrangement.

Pringle has plans for RIBA presidency

The Royal Institute of British Architects has appointed Pringle Brandon partner Jack Pringle as its new president. Pringle, who takes over on 1 September, replaces George Ferguson and will be the 71st president of the association. Sainsbury's is relaunching its Organics range, renamed and redesigned as So by Williams Murray Hamm. The packaging features plant saplings to highlight farming methods and botanical-style captions provide information on each product. The initiative is part of the supermarket's aim to become the leading destination for organic foods. More than 100 lines are being added, taking the total to almost 500 products.

WPP reported a strong set of first half results last week, with direct marketing, Internet and interactive sectors and healthcare communications in particular showing healthy growth. Overall billings at the group were up almost 24 per cent year on year.
