    The 1997/98 annual report and accounts for the Peabody Trust, designed by London consultancy Autumn, is released this week. Cool blue and warm earthy colours are used to illustrate the work of the trust, London's biggest and longest serving housing association which is responsible for properties across the capital. Action photography and gatefold spreads are employed to show the fast-moving nature of housing needs in the capital. The photography is by Paul Cordwell.

    Waterstone's Writing about Art competition invites entrants to submit a previously unpublished piece of writing of no more than 300 words. The piece should provide a critical response to a piece of work created by any artist ever shortlisted for the Turner Prize. Ten winners will each receive 100 worth of Waterstone's vouchers and an opportunity to be considered for inclusion in a series of short Channel 4 programmes. Entry deadline is 1 October.

    Design LSM in Brighton has created the interiors of The Mongolian Barbecue in Manchester, aiming at a contemporary, rather than ethnic, feel.Situated in the "social loop" around the Canal Street area, the restaurant is in a turn-of-the-century disused 185m2 warehouse."LSM has used warm rich colours to complement the existing textures of brick and metal which can be viewed externally through the new double height glazed front," says an LSM spokeswoman.

Japanese housewares manufacturer LEC has introduced a new range into this crowded market, designed by TKO. The consultancy was briefed to improve the image and quality of the product and appeal to a younger audience. The new coloured range is intended to be easier to grip and has rubber buttons.

    Networking communications company Networks Unlimited has a new identity and corporate brochure by The Blueprint Design Company in West Sussex.The six-year-old client, also based in West Sussex, wanted a marque to reflect its "corporate success and salience in the industry", says a Blueprint spokesman.The new logo, in metallic silver and dark blue, "draws the eye to the company title", adds the consultancy spokesman.

    Wolff Olins 'may be' talking to BP and Amoco concerning the identity of the proposed merged oil giant, according to a consultancy spokeswoman.A BP spokeswoman says the oil business has not started approaching identity consultancies, following the announcement of its intention to merge with US company Amoco.However she confirms the name of the proposed company will be BP Amoco, and that the merger is hoped to be completed by the end of the year.
