    The redevelopment of London's Battersea Power Station received a blow this week as a prospective investor, Ballymore Properties, pulled out its backing. Parkview International, which owns the site and is in discussions with a number of designers, says construction is due to start in June.

    Penny Egan has resigned her position as executive director of the Royal Society of the Arts. Egan, who spent eight years in the role and 20 years at the RSA, will leave her post at the end of July. According to a statement she plans to 'rest and reflect on what challenges she would like to take on next'. An RSA spokeswoman says the organisation is undertaking an executive search to find her replacement.

    Contract furniture company Keen is back under Charles Keen's ownership and will re-launch with a new collection of furniture in the spring. Keen says he has re-acquired the rights to the business from Ercol and is in the process of putting together a first collection comprised of 'high design and volume products'. The company was originally founded by Keen in 1999. It was acquired by Ercol in 2002, but Keen left the company in January 2005.

    A report in the Financial Times revealed that Cambridge design group Plextek, which created the console for defunct gaming company Gizmondo, lost the equivalent of 20 per cent of its annual turnover, when the company went into liquidation last month. The consultancy, which took a 20 per cent stake in Gizmondo in lieu of some of its fees, claims it was not paid for work relating to a second generation version of the console.
