  • 0404 Creative and Matt Johnstone collaborate on San Miguel project

    Brighton-based 0404 Creative and local illustrator Matt Johnstone have collaborated on a project for San Miguel, to create and promote a website, www.drinkinbrighton.com, which launches on 1 April. The group designed the site, which will provide listings for a selection of bars, while Johnstone spent six weeks creating a map of Brighton that shows venues included on the site and will be used to promote its launch. Up to 5000 A1 versions will appear around the city from next week.

  • Airside is star of Design Week Awards

    In a year which saw digital design come to the fore, Airside has won Best of Show in the 2006 Design Week Awards with the Orange 'Playlist' bumpers. Dunning Eley Jones was runner-up for the top prize with its idents for UKTV's Style Gardens programme.   • 'Business as usual' at Body Shop

    In-house designers and external groups will not be affected by L'Oréal's takeover of The Body Shop, the retailer claimed today, with no consolidation of teams planned. According to a Body Shop spokeswoman, the takeover will have 'no impact'. 'It's business as usual,' she maintains. 'We will be separate entities, an individual brand, just owned by different people.' L'Oréal acquired the ethical retailer for £652m last week.

  • Concorde named nation's favourite design

    Concorde has been named as the nation's favourite British design since 1900 in the Great British Design Quest, a vote organised by the Design Museum and BBC2's The Culture Show (DW 2 February 2006). It was designed in the late 1960s by British Aerospace with Aerospatiale.

This is not so - very little criticism of design ever appears in DW or anywhere else. Indeed, this lack of criticism is one of the principal reasons why design is so undervalued by many in industry and business.
