Corporate Edge to promote Derry

Corporate Edge has been appointed by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board to consider the proposition of key tourist attractions in the county and city of Londonderry. The project is in the early stages but could include signage and brand identity work. Any final brand identity is subject to the difficulties of the long-running dispute over the city's name: nationalists refer to Derry and unionists use Londonderry.

Frampton promoted at Interbrand

Interbrand London chief executive Jez Frampton is to take up the position of global group chairman and chief executive at the Omnicom-owned consultancy, effective immediately. Frampton will move to New York in the long term. He will be replaced by John Albert, chief operating officer at Interbrand UK. Frampton takes over from Chuck Brymer, who becomes president of Omnicom advertising agency DDB Worldwide, following the death of Ken Kaess.

Graphic designer Ruari McLean dies

Typographer and graphic designer Ruari McLean died this week aged 88. McLean was involved in publications including 1950s boys' comic Eagle and Penguin's children's book imprint Puffin.

Vitra to launch full support office chair

Vitra is to launch what it claims is the first office chair to offer physical support beyond the lumbar zone. It says this ergonomic concept is a response to the demands of computer-dominated workplaces. Designed by Mario and Claudio Bellini, the HeadLine chair is an evolution of the Vitra's Ypsilon model, released in 2000, also designed by the father and son team.
