However, the real shock came a few days later when Hannam donned her party jacket and plunged her hand into its carrot-and-potato-fil

  • Bursting the bubbles

    7 January 1999

You wake up thinking death might not be so tragic after all. It could, in fact, be a blessed relief. The bastard cat dons a pair of clogs and hornpipes his way across the bedroom floor. If he sits on my head again, he's toast! Mmmm toast, now there's an idea. These symptoms can only add up to one thing - a hangover. Every leaden movement, every aching muscle, every note played by the guest bass-player in my head underlines my worst fears, I've embraced the festive season with too much ...

I would have thought that plenty of designers in Glasgow could do better!Neil WalkerCDT DesignLondon WC1

Working closely with resort architects Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo he is looking to turn its initial design concept (pictured) into a reality by the year 2017. • Minor ambitions

    7 January 1999

It was on seeing the first Morris Mini Minor that I determined to become a designer. To this day, the very thought of my first encounter with this little car raises goosebumps. That came later, when a mighty gust of wind uprooted the marquee, leaving Minale and his colleagues completely exposed. One dreads to contemplate the impact of the blast on the skirt-wearing contingency.

  • Rekindling the magic

    7 January 1999

I spent much of my teenage years in bands. Although I fiddled and plonked on the keyboard I was most at home on a squeaky drum stool with half a tree in each hand. Now, looking back through the rose-tinted Ray-Bans of nostalgia, it was an idyllic time filled with the nervous energy of playing live and the sharp taste of cheap cider.
