The new, improved Design Week
It’s finally here. The redesigned Design Week has hit the news stands. But if you can’t wait for your copy here is a peek of the new design, led by art director Sam Freeman.
It’s all change.
The old font Univers has been replaced by Akkurat font from Line To and the coated paper stock gives the printed images more snap to ‘enhance the appearance of colours’, explains Freeman. He has also introduced a new trim size and a seven- column grid to give more flexibility for layouts.
New regular features include Best of the Web, and a Don’t Miss section, highlighting the Design Week team’s hot tips of things to see that week. A more comprehensive diary section will be updated weekly online for subscribers at www.designweek.co.uk
The magazine features more illustrations in the Private View section. Five illustrators - Andy Potts, Ben Tallon, Liam Bardsley, Cristiana Conceiro and Iain Cox - will work in sequence to illustrate the words of our four regular columnists.
‘I wanted to create more flexibility throughout the magazine and a more crafted and considered aesthetic,’ says Freeman. We may be biased - but we think this has been achieved. What do you think?
