Break the ice (but not the bank) at the Freezing Art Fair

First, there was Frieze. But the chilly demeanors of the art world have nothing on the Freezing Art Fair, launching on 6 December with a delightful range of limited-edition signed prints, original drawings and photographs by a range of high-profile international artists, all in support of Save the Children’s aid in Syria.

The auction is the brainchild of graphic designer Lisa Pascal. Work on display includes the deliciously slick illustrations of Ryan Todd, whimsical typography from Ben Pearce, and the wild and wonderful work of Kyle Platts, Sac Magique, and Matthew the Horse. Wintry prints by Jon McNaught will also make an appearance.

Photographer Clement Pascal contributes one of his signature images from the eerily cloud-washed edgelands, and a polo-necked Bjorn Lie waves cheerfully from the window of an an icecream-selling snowmobile in a chocolaty forest.

Lisa Pascal’s aggravated cactus cat and Stephane Tartelin’s imposing ‘Mr Awesome Cat’ are Design Week favourites, in line with the current preference for cat-based graphics. Work from the promising Hark artists collective is a quick fix for the best Christmas present under the tree, and the faintly creepy work of Jack Duplock might be something nice to give an estranged uncle.

Eclectic music and performance acts will add to the auction-fever, including a series of racous ditties sung by the City Shanty Band.

The Freezing Art Fair will be held at 19:00 on 6 December at Mother, Biscuit Building, 10 Redchurch Street,London E2 7DD. Tickets are £5 and can be purchased here.
