Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios works on new postal museum

Architect Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios is working on a new home for the British Postal Museum & Archive, which will involve the refurbishment of Calthorpe House in north London and the creation of a new building.

The museum will provide a home for the BPMA’s collection, which includes photographs, posters, pillar boxes and a stamp collection.

FCBS says it is aiming to ‘create a landmark building, which is both welcoming and accessible to its visitors while also dealing with the practical aspects that are specific to museum and archive design including security, environmental control and visitor routes.’

Calthorpe House is being leased to the BPMA by RMG, which is also providing a loan to cover some of the conversion costs. BPMA is set to launch a fundraising campaign to raise the remaining funds.
