Fivefootsix has created the branding for Movement for Modern Life, an online yoga video resource.

The videos, which will go online over the next few weeks, are available as subscription packages to help people to practise yoga away from a class environment.

Fivefootsix says the branding aims to ‘demystify yoga making it much more accessible, less fluffy and less serious’.

Algy Batten, Fivefootsix partner, says, ‘[Movement for Modern Life founder Kat Farrants] is really passionate about demystifying yoga, so we didn’t want to make it look like other yoga brands which can be images of flowers and spiritual things.

‘We wanted to make it more accessible to the modern world – people who have trouble sleeping, injuries, pregnant women, people stressed from work… A lot of it is about the desire to get people moving.’

The branding uses a bright pink and white colour palette, with a hexagonal logo derived from the up and down arrows that bookend the  ‘move more live more’ message shown on items for the brand such as T-shirts and tote bags.

Batten, who was appointed to the project following a recommendation, says the overall concept echoes the idea of a ‘manifesto’ or a ‘rallying cry’, using the strapline Revolutionising Online Yoga And Wellbeing.

Batten says, ‘The arrows create the shape of the mark, which can be seen as “your  shape” to do yoga in – it could be your front room, your garden – wherever’.

The name and strapline were created with Lisa Desforges, and Fivefootsix also worked with copywriter Jason Gormley on the project, creating a ‘low-fi’ newspaper-style publication to be distributed at yoga shows.

Movement for Modern Life currently has a holding page, and the full site is expected to launch over the next few weeks.

How very un-yogic – I really like it. Bold, simple, and well, modern.

Sounds cool. I’ve been doing http://dirtyyogaco.com for over a year and this sounds similar to it. Dirty is very impressive and very un-yoga.

I think online Yoga courses are very essential for the people who want to practice yoga but do not get time to visit any studio.
