Habitat is opening a series of concessions within Homebase stores, selling furniture, lighting and accessories.

Habitat was bought by Home Retail Group, which also operates Argos and Homebase, in June 2011.

The move saw 30 Habitat stores outside London close, while the three flagship stores in the capital – King’s Road, Tottenham Court Road and Finchley Road – continued to operate.

Habitat is now rolling out a series of concession stores, with the first concession opening in Ruislip, north London.

A concession in Solihull, West Midlands, is set to open at the end of the month, and further openings are planned for the coming months.

Habitat says the concessions have been designed by creative director Polly Dickens, who was appointed at the start of the year, and the in-house design team.

Habitat’s managing director Clare Askem says, ‘Habitat has always been about making great design accessible to as many people as possible, so we are delighted to be opening new concession stores.

‘These new stores provide the Habitat shopping experience and access to our full range of innovative products in convenient locations for customers who don’t live within reach of our London stores.’
