Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and Designersblock at Interiors UK

This year’s show will include Signature Spaces, which sees room concepts brought together by guest designers.  The buoyantly coiffed television personality and interior designer Laurence Llewelyn Bowen will create two special rooms that celebrate British heritage, including his flamboyantly-named His Lordship’s Lair, and a bedroom called My Lady’s Chamber for visitors to have a snoop around.

The show will also present work from the New Design Britain Awards, with designs displayed from the four finalists from each of the four categories - fabric, furnishing accessories, furniture and surface covers.

At the centre of Interiors UK is the Design Village, which has been created in collaboration with Designersblock. The space aims to provide a ‘creative hub’ where visitors will be able to find inspiration, meet designers and view new designs. Like a real village, Design Village boasts a B&B, and ‘pub’, with rooms designed by House of Hackney, Donna Wilson, Morag Myerscough and Luke Morgan.

Among the designers showing work in the area will be Puff & Flock, The New English Company, SCIN Gallery, Graphic Relief, Harry Trimble, Obsessionistas and Studio 801.

There are a number of free seminars taking place throughout the show, including SHH’s Neil Hogan on ‘hospitality’s new luxury templates’; designer Paul Daly discussing his ‘design journey’; Peter Cross from Yellowdoor on how to lead and compete in retail in 2012 and BIID Interior Designer John Evans on The Path to Professionalism.

Meanwhile, the omnipresent Mary Portas will be sending her team to seek out new homeware products from up and coming designers with an eye to stocking them in the Mary & House of Fraser concessions. Unfortunately the deadline to submit ideas has already passed, but it’ll be interesting to see who has made the grade to be welcomed into the fold of the Portas empire.
