Visualising taste
What does the taste of lime look like? Its colour association might be straightforward but what about it’s texture - is it spiky, round, transparent or opaque?
Artist Marcos Lutyens has tackled the visual identity of tastes for the Future Everything art and music festival which will be held in Manchester in May.

A visualisation of the taste of the Absolut Peppar Collider cocktail
Luytens has worked with vodka brand Absolut to create the Absolut Flavour Collider, which will offer a visual interpretation of the mind’s reaction to different tastes and sensations.
The Collider will take readings from users with a special headset as they drink a series of different cocktails - including ingredients such as smooth apple juice and spicy chilli - and transpose them into images. It uses emerging electroencephalography technology to measure the activity within the inner brain and projects the thoughts onto a series of screens. Just don’t ask what the hangover will look like.
Future Everything runs from 11 - 14 May at various location in Manchester.
