Gowans has created a range of imaginary books whose titles are derived from classic records.

So, for example, New Order’s Power, Corruption and Lies is reimagined as a Collins-style dictionary, and The White Stripes’ Elephant as a children’s picture book.

The project brings together the different strands of Gowans’ practice – after working for Peter Saville and Mark Farrow on projects for New Order and the Pet Shop Boys, he now works in editorial design.

Other albums getting the book treatment include Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon and Abbey Road, by The Beatles.

Six of the album books are available as screenprints, while a further 20, including Pet Sounds, Exile on Main Street and Unknown Pleasures, are available as giclée art prints.
