Design group Imagination has appointed Douglas Broadley (pictured), its global creative director, as chief executive of Imagination Europe. This new role complements his current responsibilities.

Prior to Broadley taking up the post, the Imagination Europe chief executive responsibilities were handled by the group chairman and managing director Gary Withers. According to Broadley, the challenge is to enhance value for existing clients and continue to build new opportunities to strengthen business relationships globally.

‘Private ownership and a responsive network mean we are the world’s smallest big communications company,’ he says. ‘For global brands looking for creativity informed by strategic insight, we are the agile alternative to conventional agency groups.’

As global creative director, Broadley manages the group’s creative resources across ten offices in Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific.

Broadley has worked closely with Imagination client Ford Motor Company for several years and will retain his personal involvement in the management and creative direction of that business. He has worked for Imagination for ten years.

In September last year, Imagination appointed advertising expert John Banks as executive chairman, in an attempt to develop the group’s global strategy. Banks took over executive chairman responsibilities from Withers.
