Lucky Penny, by Vince Frost

Vince Frost has designed an art installation for a creative hub in Sydney, using an adaption of Danish typographer and designer Henrik Kubel’s font, India.

The installation reflects the building’s history, according to Frost. When it was tenanted by Sheldon Leather Goods, a luxury women’s handbag company, in 1950, as a sign of good luck Sheldon Leather Goods would place a copper penny in the pocket of each handbag, which came to be known as the ‘Lucky Penny’.

“There have been many tenants in this wonderful building over the years and with our studio’s recent move to 16 Eveleigh Street, the idea of ‘luck’ struck me as paramount,” says Frost.

The piece is constructed using 20mm plumbing pipe manufactured by Chunk Design.
