Badger Ales portfolio aims for standout and consistency from Brand Opus

Brand Opus has created new branding for brewer Hall & Woodhouse’s Badger Ales portfolio.

The new branding will be used on the Hopping Hare bottled beer, which will hit shelves next month, and will then roll out across the rest of the Badger range.

The consultancy was appointed to work with Hall & Woodhouse last autumn following a pitch, according to marketing manager Charlotte Ellis.

Brand Opus says the new brand aims to improve standout and create more consistency across the range.

The consultancy says the Hopping Hare packaging uses ’the lively personality of the hare character who forms a much more dynamic role in the label design’.

Using a typeface which incorporates leaves and tufts of grass, the label ’evokes the countryside connotations of the Badger brand’, according to Brand Opus.

Paul Taylor, creative director of Brand Opus, says, ’The brand framework we created for Badger unifies the range of characterful countryside-inspired ales. On an individual level, the new design expresses the quirky traits of each of the unique personalities of the ales.’

He adds, ’The overall redesign gives Badger a stronger presence on-shelf, enabling consumers to understand and engage with the brand more meaningfully and recognise the Badger portfolio over other brands in the ale category.’
