Designers in Cardiff are to benefit from a 20m multimedia complex planned for next year.

The “village” is at the heart of a 2.4bn waterfront regeneration scheme and will house up to 1000 people working in graphics, television, animation and music recording. International digital satellite links will be installed.

The scheme, which is backed by Toronto-based multimedia company Frontier, is being designed by Taylor Woodrow in collaboration with the Welsh School of Architecture.

The Cardiff centre follows similar schemes to provide creative studio space for small or young design operations in Glasgow and Brighton (DW 6 February).
