This is what goes inside a jumbo jet

Staff at British Airways have created this huge image of a jumbo jet – made from all the items that have to be loaded on it before it can take to the skies.

A typical jumbo jet carries – among other things – 1263 items of metal crockery, 2000 ice-cubes, 700 small cans of fizzy drinks, 435 air-sickness bags, 337 headrest covers and 58 toilet rolls.

To demonstrate all these different items, and the huge logistical effort it takes to load them on to planes, BA created an image using examples of all the items.

The plane itself is made using pillowcases, sleeping bags, china and headrest covers, while the sky is Club World blankets and blue kitchen roll.

Pillowcases, towels and toilet roll feature as clouds, while bags of nuts make up the aircraft windows.

The BA staff also created a London skyline, featuring a Shard made from tea-bags, and a Gherkin made from socks…
