Thomas Manss & Company designs Norman Foster book
Thomas Manss & Company has designed the book to accompany the exhibition Moving – Norman Foster on Art, which opens today at the Carré d’Art – Musée d’Art Contemporain in Nîmes, France.
According to Thomas Manss & Company, the book design reflects the consultancy’s mantra that ‘a book should be designed as an object so beautiful that you would never want to give it away.’
The book is published by Ivory press, and aims to show Foster’s ‘curatorial approach’ to architecture, exploring the discipline’s relationship with Fine Art.
The consultancy says it uses a ‘source book’ approach, featuring a number of materials and finishing techniques including Winter & Company Metallium cloth, silver and white foiling on the book’s title and bright yellow end paper.
Thomas Manss, consultancy founder, says, ‘Rarely have I seen a publication taking shape through such an intense collaboration between author, publisher and designer. The book gets deep into the mind of one of the greatest living architects and an avid collector. It reveals connections between art, architecture and technology that surprise and delight in equal measure’.
Moving – Norman Foster on Art is a bilingual publication in French and English published jointly by Ivorypress and the Carré d’Art – Musée d’Art Contemporain.
