Dorothy creates Magritte Your World app for Tate
Consultancy Dorothy has created the Magritte Your World iPhone app for Tate, to accompany Tate Liverpool’s current René Magritte exhibition.
The camera-based app allows users to take pictures and ‘Magritte’ them by overlaying an animation of a bowler-hatted businessman based on Belgian surrealist Magritte’s Golconda painting.
The consultancy says, ‘Suited, booted and bowler-hatted businessmen rain from the sky in an interactive and contemporary interpretation of Magritte’s own surreal painting.’
The app also allows users to record and share animations on Flickr and Facebook.
The app is launching on the Apple app store, where it is free to download. It accompanies Tate Liverpool’s exhibition René Magritte: The Pleasure Principle, which runs until 16 October.
