A round-up of this week’s news in brief.

Iris Prima
 

JKR has created the packaging for new Penhaligon’s fragrance Iris Prima, launched in partnership with the English National Ballet. The design is based on a ballet shoe, with packaging using nude paper stock with a soft-touch feel and a suede label with embossed lettering in red and charcoal.

Kingston Dedicated to Performance campaign
 

Stocks Taylor Benson has created the Dedicated to Performance campaign for memory manufacturer Kingston Technology. The campaign is used across posters, e-mails, animated web banners, and website landing pages.

Manchester-based consultancy Skylab is designing a new website for Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) venue Emirates Old Trafford.  The site will launch later this year, and the holding page can be seen at http://www.emiratesoldtrafford.co.uk/

Consultancy Earth has branded London’s newly-approved ‘Northbank’ business improvement district –the new name for the area covering Trafalgar Square, The Strand and Aldwych.

Ustwo has appointed Tim Smith as design specialist. Smith previous worked at Allofus and GR/DD.

Alpha Grouse
 

Taxi Studio has created new packaging for The Black Grouse Alpha Edition whisky, owned by The Famous Grouse. The packaging features a black grouse illustrated at dawn, when the Lek grouse mating ritual takes place to establish the alpha male, according to Taxi Studio.

Royal Mills website
 

Manchester-based consultancy Drumbeat has designed the branding for Royal Mills apartment complex. The branding is shown across the website, brochure, signage and marketing campaign, which is centered around the idea ‘The Royal Standard.’

Great Clipper
 

Radley Yeldar has designed the livery and sails for the GREAT Britain yacht – the flagship of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. GREAT Britain is one of twelve identical third generation ocean racing yachts that will set off from Tower Bridge on 1 September to start the world’s longest ocean race.

Temperley London website
 

Graphic Alliance has designed a new website for fashion brand Temperley London. The new e-commerce site is fully responsive, and features editorial content and layouts that respond to the dimensions and orientation of the users’ screen.

Love Northamptonshire
 

Clare Algate Design has worked with Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership (NEP) in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council to create the Love Northamptonshire campaign, which aims to encourage businesses based elsewhere in the UK and overseas to consider relocating to the county to help create jobs. The campaign website lovenorthamptonshire.com was created with Zinc Digital Business Solutions and Kinetic.

Apetina
 

Consultancy pi global has created new branding and packaging for cheese brand Arla Apetina. The packs feature ‘food in motion’ photography of the cheese and other ingredients, aiming to express ‘spontaneity and freshness’, according to pi global.

Mindis.
 

Consultancy Dick&Dave has created the brand identity, tone of voice and packaging for Mindi’s, a tasty new of gluten free Indian ready meals and sauces. The designs are inspired by Indian and Western world street art, says Dick&Dave, with a ‘hot pink’ referencing the Indian festival of colour, Holi.

Endless Stair
 

London Design Festival landmark project The Endless Stair, designed by architects dRMM, is to be moved to the lawn in front of the Tate Modern after the festival finishes. A site at St Paul’s Cathedral was initially considered for the structure, which is inspired by M. C Escher.

SAS London has designed the annual report for property development and investment company Development Securities PLC. The report features aerial photography by Jason Hawkes.

WPP has announced that XM Asia, a division of WPP’s wholly-owned operating company, JWT, the global communications group, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Hong Kong digital consultancy Designercity.

Coal Vaults logo
 

Max Wilson of consultancy OWH has created the branding for new restaurant Coal Vaults, in London’s Soho. According to Coal Vaults, the interiors have been designed by restaurant co-founder Martyn Simpson.

Watts Gallery
 

Architects ZMMA has been appointed by the Watts Gallery Trust to recreate and transform the studios of the Victorian artists G. F. Watts and Mary Seton Watts. The project has received a first-round pass from the Heritage Lottery Fund, meaning that the Watts Gallery Trust can progress to the second stage of the HLF application process, where it will be seeking £2.3m million of HLF support towards the £5 million project.  

Red Leg rum
 

ButterflyCannon has designed the branding and packaging for Caribbean spiced rum RedLeg. The consultancy says the design ‘captures the brand’s laid back Caribbean spirit casual, chilled and totally Irie.’ The branding features a red-legged hermit crab image.

You Can Now magazine
 

Creative member network YCN has launched a new members’ magazine, You Can Now. The first issue, which takes the theme ‘begin’, is designed and art directed by Matt Willey and edited by YCN founder Nick Defty.

Salford-based consultancy Raw has created a multi-channel recruitment campaign for Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (DCHS), aiming to attract more than 100 nurses and health professionals to the Trust ahead of the winter period. The campaign features  three documentary style recruitment films, produced in collaboration with Manchester agency Maker Projects. Raw has also produced a fully responsive website DerbyshireDCHSjobs.nhs.uk.
