The review is understood to have been launched by new managing director John Walden, who joined the business in February.

The root-and-branch review is believed to affect all areas of the business, including its branding, and could also affect the number of Argos stores on the high street.

Argos, which is owned by Home Retail Group, was last rebranded by The Brand Union at the beginning of 2010.

Argos’s new CEO is under pressure to turn the business round after recording hefty losses against online retailers. It would be interesting to see how the client feels a rebrand might help.
