The consultancy will be working to apply the O2 branding created by Lambie Nairn across all the brand’s packaging, as well as delivering a packaging strategy review and looking at structure, graphics and service design; new product development; and design for O2 mobile accessories.

Echo was appointed following a strategic pitch about a year ago, according to Echo managing director Nick Dormon.

Dormon says, ‘Our job is to take the identity and look at how it’s applied across all their packaging. Service businesses are realizing there’s a lot of different touch points  they have to communicate their users that they’re not really considering well enough, and that’s quite exciting for us.’

Echo is currently in the process of carrying out a strategic review of all O2 packaging, a project it began at the end of last year.

Dormon says, ‘We have to do a very deep assessment of the packaging they already have and understand how it relates to the consumer and it’s use- it’s about looking at the whole journey. We have to go right back to the beginning – it’s an immense amount of work.’

The first packaging to use Echo’s designs will launch this summer, according to Dormon.
