&Smith and We All Need Words to rebrand Shrewsbury

Consultancies &Smith and We All Need Words are working to create a new identity for the Shropshire town of Shrewsbury.

The two groups have been commissioned by Shropshire Council to ‘put Shrewsbury on the map’, according to &Smith creative partner Dan Bernstein.

He says, ‘Other Shropshire towns all have reasons for people to visit them – for example Ludlow has food and Much Wenlock has the Olympics connection – but Shrewsbury is much bigger and has so much to offer.

‘It’s got loads of history, lots of independent shops, there’s loads there. Our job is to find the detail.’

&Smith and We All Need Words were appointed at the end of March following a pitch.

Bernstein says the new identity, which will be used by the council right down to individual shopkeepers, is set to launch towards the end of May.

Sometimes I think design and marketing has gone too far when such jobs exist as ‘Rebranding Shrewsbury’.

    hi,
I have read the proposal’s for the rebranding of Shrewsbury, and i’m all for it. Shrewsbury has so much to offer for people coming to visit, there has been so much change in the past ten year’s, it has become an historical attraction in its own right since the Darwin cenntenial.
I’am a photographer/digital artist born and bread in the county town of Shropshire, over the year’s i have built up a mass library of shot’s taken from around the town, that i have exhibited a few time’s, and i think that some of these images may be of interest to yourselves, in the promotion of the town, albeit a little different from your usual pictures that you would expect, i believe that my images incorporate the history of the town along with a new vibarant twist.
