Spencer Du Bois rebrands charity Blind Veterans UK

Spencer Du Bois has rebranded charity Blind Veterans UK, formerly known as St Dunstan’s, with the new branding unveiled by a bomb disposal robot at the charity’s Sheffield rehabilitation and training centre yesterday.

The charity helps ex-servicemen and women affected by sight-loss either through service or from other causes.

Spencer Du Bois was appointed to the project in May last year following a creative pitch, and has created a new Union Jack-based identity shown across all collateral including campaign materials, posters and the website, which was built by dotAgency.

Spencer Du Bois has also created an image library for Blind Veterans UK to use for other campaigns, featuring four people who are beneficiaries of the charity.

John Spencer, creative director at Spencer du Bois, says, ‘One of the things that came our of our research was that the identity had to capture the spirit of the armed forces, and the idea of basing something on the Union Jack would really get to the heart of the organisation.

‘That imagery very much chimed with the people involved – the beneficiaries and the supporters. The whole point was to create something very distinctive – it had a great sense of energy to it. The Britishness is very much the key to the whole thing.’
