Top Mayfair restaurant gets 1930s makeover

Mayfair restaurant Mirabelle, formerly owned by renowned chef Marco Pierre White, is to undergo a major refurbishment and 1930s-style makeover, according to reports.

Mirabelle was bought by fashion designer Joseph Ettedgui and Knickerbox co-founder Stephen Schaffer last November. The duo had already purchased two other White-owned venues, Quo Vadis and Drones.

The restaurant, which is due to reopen this summer, will receive a 1930s-style makeover to restore it to its former glory – it was first opened in 1936.

In 1998, when White first bought Mirabelle, David Collins carried out a major redesign – Collins also worked on Quo Vadis for the chef. However, it is not known who will be carrying out the latest design work.

According to the reports, the six-month refurbishment will mean more than 50 staff are to be made redundant.
