No Cannes do? Cannt instead!

Can’t go to Cannes this year? Don’t despair.

The annual Cannt Festival will (possibly) make up for all those glamorous parties and hobnobbing. Who needs France anyway when you’ve got the gorgeous grey clouds of London?

Now in its fourth year, this year’s Cannt is ramping things up with its Camp Cannt theme, which organisers say is a ‘all about trying new things, meeting new people and being mischievous.’

Taking place over various venues next week, events will be hosted by Cannt’s partner agencies including LBi, Dare, RAPP, DRAFTFCB, and Hyper Island.

Simon Gill, Cannt founder and executive creative director at LBi, says, ‘It’s really great to see Cannt building on its founding principles and going from strength to strength.

‘I’m really excited about what our fellow contributors will be cooking up this year, as we all make sure there is plenty of fun and stimulation for those not larging it on the Croisette’.

One evening of this year’s Cannt looks to unearth the darkest secrets of those creatives willing to divulge at Curry Confessions, hosted by organisation SheSays. The daunting-sounding scenario will encourage female ad folk to confess their worst advertising secrets over a curry.

If you aren’t female or don’t like curry  – but do like copywriting – the same night screams – ‘get your nibs out!’ at you, in a bid to get you to utilise your loquacious talents for life drawing for a night.

‘For too long, the writer has been left out in the cold, bereft of a good excuse to stare at naked people’, say organisers.

‘Armed with only a sharp HB pencil, writers will go through rounds of varying length and stimulus, experimenting with style and form, moving from haiku to limerick via internal monologue, short story and back in an evening of worthy wordiness and beery beeriness.’

Other highlights look set to be Cannt Crufts, celebrating creatives’ canines, and Caravan Clubbing on Thursday.

So can Cannes, and get practising that Cannt-do attitude.

Cannt runs from 17 – 21 June at various London locations. For more information visit http://www.cannt.org/
