Illustrator Ralph Steadman has a new website, designed by Kent-based consultancy Squiders.

Squiders founder Kris Jeary says the aim of the new design is to make the site ‘a little more Ralph and a little less corporate’.

The homepage features an overhead shot of Steadman ‘illustrating’ at a desk, with a constantly-changing selection of his work.

Sidebars feature inkwells, brushes, books, coffee mugs and other paraphernalia, all shot on Steadman’s desk.

Jeary says, ‘Because Ralph has been working on a documentary [For No Good Reason, set to be release later this year] he has had a camera installed over his desk. We took some shots and cut out the main image, so we could replace it with a selection of his work.’

Jeary says the aim of the homepage is to provide a visual representation of Steadman’s current work, exhibitions or other projects.

The site also features links to social networking, and links to a shop and biography site for Steadman.

Jeary says Squiders has been working with Steadman and his family, who live near the consultancy, for a number of years.
