Anorak magazine’s Sports edition
Just in time for Euro 2012 and the London Olympics, Anorak, ‘the happy mag for kids’ is publishing its sports issue.
We’ve long been fans of Anorak, which was founded in 2007 by Cathy Olmedillas, formerly of style magazines The Face and Sleazenation.
Dedicated to new stories and illustrations, previous Anorak issues have featured the work of (among others) Rob Ryan, Jon Burgerman, Andy Rementer and Gemma Correll.
The Sports issue, which has been designed by Matthew Bromley, contains delights such as the Sport is Spiffing feature about unusual games, illustrated by Rob Flowers, and story The Island of Li, peppered with palindromes and illustrated by Lesley Barnes.
Other treats include Munkie and Horrace, a photo-story featuring a stuffed monkey and a bear, slightly reminiscent of Deirdre’s Photo-Casebook, and ‘Greedy Gulliver Woodpigeon – A Cautionary tale’.
Other contributors include Jack Teagle (who illustrated the cover) Nicholas Frith and Lewis Smith and Matthew Dent from footballing design collective Soho Warriors FC.
Anorak is priced at £6 and is available from stockists listed here.
