As well as Apple and David Hillman, most-decorated awards are also going to:
• Advertising agency: Collett Dickinson Pearce & Partners;
• Production company: Gorgeous Enterprises;
• Art director: Neil Godfrey;
• Director: Frank Budgen and Tony Kaye;
• Copywriter: Tony Brignull; and
• Brand: Apple.
In addition, a 50th anniversary honourary President’s Award has been given to Derek Birdsall. D&AD says this is to honour ‘a designer who was not only central to our foundation but who has also been producing consistently outstanding work throughout all five decades of the organisation’s existence.’
D&AD chief executive Tim Lindsay says, ‘D&AD is the hardest award in the world to win, so those that have made this list really do represent the peak of creative achievement in the creative industry.
‘Our business is predicated on talent, and the people and agencies listed here have contributed to a legacy of economic and creative success that is often overlooked.’
The 2012 President’s Award, presented by Rosie Arnold, is awarded to Dan Wieden.
Only one D&AD Black Pencil is being awarded this year, to Lowe/SSP3, Colombia, for the Rivers of Light project, which saw messages floated down Colombian rivers in an attempt to persuade FARC guerrillas to demobilise.
The D&AD Yellow Pencil winners were announced in April.
Dunlop ad & Rivers of Light shamelessly ripped off the styling of Storm Thorgerson, has he ever had a mention for a D&AD? nope!
Oh my god. Advertising that had an idea. Still knocks the shit out of the shite that is produced today.
There are hundreds of talented creatives! Just because they are not on the D&AD list doesnt mean the ones awarded are the top creatives if the planet…
