Channel 4 says that as well as allowing for optimum viewing on any platform, the redesign will also ensure that Channel 4 ‘is looking ahead to future innovations in converged TV’.

New features on the site – at www.channel4.com/news – include the ‘Live from the Newsroom’ rolling blog, which will be a feed of constantly updated multimedia content, while the 7pm Channel 4 News programme will also be streamed live through the site.

Anna Doble, acting head of online at Channel 4 News, says, ‘This is a fantastic way of combining the lively social media activity of our team with the brilliant journalism they produce in a live, dynamic feed.’

Jon Snow’s Snowmail, the FactCheck blog and the Special Reports will all remain as key features on the site.

Vicky Taylor, commissioning editor, news and current affairs at Channel 4, says, ‘We are market leaders in experimentation with news content, and this investment will ensure we remain at the forefront.

‘We have to ensure that our news, commentary and analysis is available on any device – those that are available now – but also those that are currently in development.’
