Kent Lyons creates app for The Run To Monaco
Kent Lyons has designed an app for private rally The Run To Monaco, which will be installed on an iPad given to each driver in a leather case, also designed by the consultancy.
Drivers will use the app to navigate from London to Monaco where they will watch the F1 Grand Prix, after stopping off set destination points along the way.
Kent Lyons was approached in April by The Run To, which organises the events, and was initially asked to create a book for the rally.
The consultancy then proposed a travel guide and map app, which Kent Lyons partner Noel Lyons says ‘features a full itinerary, a map of the route and information about the journey.’
The app, which is personalised for each of the 30 drivers, references the car they will be driving, and if a GPS connection can be raised, plots the driver’s course.
However as the map will already be downloaded onto the ipad, users can read the map if there is no connection. ‘There’s nothing worse then waiting for a map to download,’ says Lyons.
The map is activated when held in portrait mode and the ‘reading experience’ when held in landscape.
‘We’ve also commissioned a bespoke felt case for the iPad with leather detailing, designed specifically for the car environment for safe and easy access,’ says Lyons.
