Magnetic North creates Olympics mobile site for BBC Sport

Manchester-based consultancy Magnetic North has worked with BBC Sport to create the London 2012 Olympics website for mobile devices.

The mobile-optimised site will include live-streaming of individual sports as well as text commentary.

Adam Todd, creative director at Magnetic North, says the designs used in the Olympics site will be rolled out to the rest of the BBC Sport Mobile site.

Todd says, ‘The top line for us was to bring in as much as is useful. This includes things like live feeds, live commentary and fixture information.’

He adds, ‘You hear a lot about making mobile sites a simpler experience, by audiences for sport are already quite sophisticated.’

Magnetic North was appointed to the work about a year ago, according to Todd.

BBC Sport relaunched its desktop site earlier this year, with designs developed in-house using elements of the BBC global visual design language developed by Neville Brody’s Research Studios.
