Mapping America
To outsiders, the US – particularly around election time – can seem like a pretty clear-cut country of diametric opposites. Obama vs Romney, Democrat vs Republican, blue vs red.
In reality, of course, the US is a vastly nuanced and diverse country, and in an effort to explain some of its complexities, London’s KK Outlet is hosting an exhibition of infographics that attempt to tell some of America’s stories.
The show features infographics commissioned from MIT, Harvard and the New York Times, as well as consultancies across the US and Europe.
The works attempt to answer questions such as: who is actually voting in the election? What are their concerns? And how do issues such as race, the economy, employment and education come into it?
Sadly the one thing it seems they can’t tell us is who is likely to win the election.
Mapping America as at KK Outlet, 42 Hoxton Square, London N1, from 6-24 November.
