The name Home has been chosen following a research and consultation process led by consultancies Creative Concern and O Street.

The consultancies, which were appointed to develop a name and identity for the new organisation in March, are developing a visual identity for Home, which will launch next month.

Home says the name was selected as ‘home was a word which recurred often when people were asked what the new organisation should be – a second home, somewhere you feel at home, the home of great work’.

Dave Moutrey chief executive of Home, says, ‘Many of the people we spoke to wanted the new identity to be somewhere that challenged them and made them think.

‘This aspect will be further developed in our visual identity, as well as in our programming, which is now starting to take shape.’

Home will be housed in a new £19 million building on Manchester’s First Street, which is being designed by Dutch architect Mecanoo and _space architecture, with interior design by Concrete Architectural Associates.

The new building is set to open in 2014.
