News in brief round-up

A round-up of this week’s news in brief.

Lighting designer Russell Lipscombe has died at the age of 49. Colleague and friend Gregor Jackson, partner at GP Studio, writes, ‘Russell loved life and loved design. With a background in architecture he eased seamlessly into lighting design- where he found his forte, and championed a number of lighting design businesses over a career spanning more than 20 years. He was instrumental in the retail arena particularly, and excelled at amplifying lighting design as a vital ingredient to any successful scheme. There are I’m sure, more suits sold in a Reiss store, more lingerie sold in Harrods, and more Burberry raincoats sold internationally as a result of Russell’s flair. He loved life- any hurdles he faced, he always crossed and ventured forward positively. Life was for living to the full.’
