The Albers app

Fifty years after first publishing Josef Albers’s Interaction of Color, Yale University Press is releasing an interactive version of the work as an iPad app.

Albers app

Interaction of Color is regarded as one of the most influential art books ever written, and lays out Bauhaus educator Albers’s teaching vision.

This new version has been developed by consultancy Potion, and is released in partnership with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.

It features a colour palette tool which lets you experiment with colour in the same way Albers’s students would have, as well as full text and images of the original work.

There’s also commentary from graphic designer Peter Mendelsund, textile designer Christopher Farr and product designer Brian Marden.
