Italian designers head to House of Peroni

Italian beer brand Peroni Nastro Azzurro is bringing together headline design names including Alessi, Formafantasma and Carlo Bernardini for its self-styled month-long ‘cultural residency’ in London.

The House of Peroni

The event, The House of Peroni, celebrates contemporary Italian culture through various social, dining and drinking events, workshops, talks and master classes.

It might be worth checking out Behind The Scenes: An Evening With Alessi, which spotlights consumer homeware brand Alessi in a talk led by Giovanni Alessi Anghini. This session takes place on 3 and 4 July and tickets are £20.

Giovanni Alessi

Industrial designer Giovanni Alessi Anghini who was born into the Alessi dynasty will talk an audience through the design house’s most famous products before opening the floor to discuss the future of Italian design.

In an unexpected aside, musician Bruno Zamborlin will ‘bring to life Alessi products in an interactive sound performance.’ We dread to think what he might do with the little whistling bird that goes in the spout of an Alessi Kettle.

Formafantasma
Formafantasma

Design Studio Formafantasma is headed up by Italian duo Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin. Formafantasma is a product design studio, which among other things looks at the role of design in folk craft, and sustainability.

Formafantasma will be taking part in ‘an audience with…’ event on 11 July. Tickets are £15.

There’ll also be chances to learn about the work of Italian light artist Carlo Bernardini and architect Andrea Morgante.

For the more hands-on you might be interested in furniture designer Martijn Rigters workshop on 20 July. He’ll be showing people how to make a foam chair, which follows the contours of their bodies.

The House of Peroni is hosted at 41 Portland Place, W1 and is open to the public from 3rd July with free general entry.

Evening events have to be booked and purchased through The House of Peroni website
