Last Space Remaining

Sergio Calderon sounds like something of a modern-day Renaissance man.

The graphic designer was formerly a director at consultancy HiReS, as well as co-founding studio Unlimited Dream Company, and has worked on interactive projects for the likes of Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana MTV and Channel 4.

He’s also looked to space to fuel his creativity, creating a series of works based on NASA space imagery.

Now, he’s turned his hands and mind to rather more ethereal concerns – the line between fantasy and reality.

This week sees the launch of his exhibition Last Space Remaining  at Mayfair’s Gazelli Art House gallery, showing a number of news works including light boxes, films, interactive installations and other multi-disciplinary pieces.

According to the gallery, these pieces represent the artist’s ‘premise that reality is dictated only by our personal expectations of reality.’

It adds, ‘His work openly questions our perception of reality suggesting that the human search for perfection, and the subsequent expectations we ourselves and those around us form, will never match it.

‘Calderon emphasises the natural inclination to hold onto our own versions of reality in the midst of constant change.’
