Lizzie Mary Cullen scoops second New Designers One Year On prize

Lizzie Mary Cullen has won the New Designers One Year On award for Part 2 of this year’s New Designers.

Cullen creates illustrated psycho-geographical maps, and her current plans include the publication of a children’s book with Phosphor Art and exhibiting at the Cynthia Corbett Gallery in London.

The judges cited the ‘originality of her artistic process and its application as design’ and ‘her commercial resourcefulness in holding down a full-time job at the same time as developing her artistic vision and business’.

Nicola Morgan, a fashion graduate from Northumbria University, won the BDC New Designer of the Year award for her Alterprations Collection, which combines elements of fashion and design.

Matthew Kavan Brooks, who studied at Nottingham Trent, was runner-up.

New Designers Part 2 runs at the Business Design Centre in London until 19 July.
