For me the real shame here is that a studio with Magpie’s standing (within the design world at least), having previously worked with the client, still had to take part in a six way pitch.

I’m not trying to open the age old ‘to pitch or not to pitch’ debate, but we seem to have moved from a situation of three way pitches, to four, and now six. What’s next, the ten way pitch?

If the client has a clear understanding of their own brief, and know what they hope to get out of it, why do they need six agencies?

It reminds me of the classic ‘I don’t know what I want, but I’ll know when I see it’.

Nice work though on Magpie’s part.
