A round-up of this week’s news in brief.

Designhouse has been appointed by housing retailer and developer Banner Homes to help develop a strategic platform and develop the branding across all collateral. According to Desginhouse managing director Lavinia Culverhouse, the work aims to ‘build the brand and focus on their points of difference.’ It will roll out from next month.

Thornley

Lydia Thornley Design is creating The Threadneedle Prize for Painting and Sculpture 2012 materials for Mall Galleries in London, drawing on imagery from the Fletcher Priest Architects-designed redevelopment of the Galleries’ East Gallery.

The Brand Union’s London has promoted Mark Chatelier to the role of creative director and Nick Thomson to principal consultant. The Brand Union has also recently appointed Clare Styles, formerly of He Said She Said, Wieden + Kennedy and Fitch, as creative director.

Cambridge-based consultancy Mobas has been appointed to to work with Toshiba Medical Systems UK on brand building, brand development and product marketing projects.

Aardman

Aardman Digital has creared a website for new CBeebies show Andy’s Wild Adventures, which uses video and music from the show as well as interactive elements.

The Royal College of Art has announced a partnership with luxury brand Burberry to create a new multi-discipline design scholarship for students across disciplines including Architecture, Design Interactions, Fashion, Innovation Design Engineering, Photography, Textiles and Visual Communication over a ten-year period.

Advertising agency BETC London has create the Toastcard Facebook app for baker Warburtons, which allows users to send friends and family virtual Warburtons toast inscribed with a personalised message to ‘cheer them up’.

Speedo

Consultancy Mercieca has created point of sale materials for swimwear brand Speedo’s New Year’s fitness initiative in John Lewis, initially being shown in the John Lewis’ flagship store in Oxford Street, London.  The point of sale unit takes the form of an old style swimming pool changing room locker, with changeable magnetic signage on top to enable the unit to be reused for future campaigns.

Colin Brooks has joined Northumberland-based consultancy ND Creative as creative director. Brooks has previously worked for Saatchi & Saatchi, Smith Bundy and Robson Brown.
