An identity for the London Container Terminal

Edinburgh-based Blood Creative has designed a new identity for the London Container Terminal.

Identity on business card

The London Container Terminal, based at Tilbury in Essex, is London’s main port, bringing in paper, timber, cars and container traffic.

Formerly known as the Tilbury Container Terminal, it is being rebranded after being acquired at the beginning of this year by Scottish company Forth Ports.

Blood has worked with Forth Ports previously and was appointed at the beginning of the year to develop a new name and identity.

Blood Creative founder Jon Evans says the consultancy was tasked with developing an identity that would put the London Container Terminal ‘firmly on the map as “the” container operation’, reflecting the benefits of scale, location and international links, as well as sustainability.

Evans says, ‘We created a mark that can therefore reflect the international links (flags) and the variety of products shipped and contained within the “box”.’

He says that while this identity immediately communicates ‘London’ and ‘containers’ it also allows for flexibility.

Working with photographer Iain Stewart, Blood is rolling out the identity across touchpoints including brochures, business cards and other collateral, with a website currently under construction.

  • 'container terminal' strangely aligned - seems to be ok on the bag visual though.
