Makepeace curates Dorset furniture show
Called Syzygy, a configuration of furniture, rugs and tapestry, the three-room showcase features 26 pieces.
On display are two creations by the furniture maker and work by alumini from Parnham College in Dorset.
Furniture designers being showcased at the event include Paul Gower Furniture, Robert Kilvington, Kay & Stemmer, Wales and Wales, and Guy Mallinson.
Makepeace says, ‘I approached a number of designers from the South and South West last October, the idea being that an exhibition in this area should promote local talent.’
‘The furniture makers then chose a rug or tapestry designer they wanted to display their work alongside.’
Rug designers Christopher Farr, Kate Blee, Tracy Oldfield and Jenny Wilkinson are also taking part.
On display are a table and a cabinet made from English ripple ash designed by Makepeace, entitled Vault and Flow.
Makepeace says, ‘Flow is the fourth in a series of chests of drawers whose computer-generated pattern has been sculpted into the wood.’
The exhibition takes place at The Alpha House Gallery in South Street, Sherborne, Dorset and runs until 10 May. For more information see, www.alpha-house.co.uk.
