The cable car, which spans more than 1km and is suspended 90m above the water, was designed by architect Wilkinson Eyre for Transport for London and sponsor Emirates.

It runs between two new terminals – Emirates Greenwich Peninsula and Emirates Royal Docks.

London Mayor Boris Johnson says, ‘The Emirates Air Line is a stunning addition to London’s transport network, providing a much-needed new connection across the Thames.

‘I am sure Emirates Air Line is now a must-see destination in its own right, giving people the chance to drink in breath-taking panoramic views.’

Studio AM has worked with cable car sponsor Emirates for some time, developing print and digital advertising campaigns and vehicle graphics.

Emirates briefed the consultancy to develop individual wrap graphics for each of the 36 cable cars on the line.

Each cable car represents a different destination that Emirates flies too, with the graphics based on abstract photography to depict the different cities.

Studio AM also worked on the Emirates Crumpled City Maps and the Emirates Oyster Card holders, as part of the project.
