The consultancy was appointed to the project at the end of 2011 due to an existing relationship with Talevi, having created branding for the Independent Opera company at Sadler’s Wells in London.

The website showcases the productions directed by Talevi, such as The Turn of the Screw at Opera North and his work as co-founder and artistic director at Independent Opera.

The consultancy created the logo from Talevi’s surname, using a simple black and white upper-case typographic logo, which is reflected throughout the website.

Jack Pearce, joint creative director at Silk Pearce, says, ‘I felt that using the surname Talevi gave it a slight toughness and elevated it from being a CV of an individual to an individual brand. We typeset it in that form and could see the way that every part of the name was aligned – that was too good to throw away.’

The site is image-led, using photographs of productions Talevi has worked on. Pearce says, ‘The black and white contrast with the productions that are very richly colourful. It makes a nice contrast. I wanted to show that the guy’s special.’
