Liverpool-based consultancy Team A Go-Go is working on the interior design of youth centre The Fuse: Trafford Youth Village – which has been funded by the Big Lottery’s My Place scheme.

Appointed by EWA Architects – which is designing the building – in December, the consultancy was asked to create an interior that would ‘make everyone who comes into the building smile,’ says Team A Go-Go designer Sam Harry.

Team A Go-Go reviewed EWA Architects’ original interiors plan, sought consultation from young people and designed a modular system which can serve users across the community as well as business needs.

A reception area has been reimagined as a hub for different usage and managing director of Team A Go-Go Kate Stewart says, ‘We did away with a static reception desk and replaced it with a series of mobile units to make a flexible space.’

Stewart says a room which will serve business needs by day will be a cinema by night – ‘furniture can be folded away into walls and been bags brought out to make a cosier environment.’

Set to open on 1 August, a sports hall, chill out zone, IT suite, music suite, photography room, theatre, art space and cafe have also been integrated.
