The Vulpine Christmas cycling fete

The worlds of cycling and design appear to be on a rather pleasing and fruitful collision course at the moment.

Design-led brands such as Rapha and Swrve have brought aesthetic class to the lycra-dominated clothing rails, venues and pop-ups like Artcrank and Look Mum No Hands are appearing on our city streets and even Tour de France winner (Sir) Bradley Wiggins is getting in on the act with a clothing range for Fred Perry.

And perfectly placed to ride this trend is recently-established UK cycling label Vulpine.

The brand has been co-founded by Nick Hussey, himself from a film, animation and design background, who worked with Us Design on the branding and website.

As well as creating some rather excellent clothing, Hussey is also working on a series of Vulpine cycling fetes, with the Vulpine Christmas Cycling Fete set to be held in London on 1 December.

Among those showing and selling at the fete will be publisher NoBrow, cycling poster show Artcrank, and individual artists and designers including James Grieg of CycleLove, Rich Mitchelson, illustrator for Team Sky, and Ben Scruton, who has created poster art for the show.

None of the exhibitors are charged to show. Hussey says, ‘It’s extremely important to me that cycling is fun, inclusive and beautifully designed. That’s why I created the fetes – they’re that writ large.’
