Think 19 nails Firetrap interiors

Think 19 has created the interiors of clothing brand Firetrap’s largest-ever store, which is set to open in Sheffield, applying beds of nails and walls of milk bottles within the space.

Appointed on the strength of its previous designs for Firetrap shops and concessions, the consultancy was briefed in September.

Inside, overhead cable lines from train stations are strung across 5m-high ceilings ‘to give an outdoor industrial feel’, says Think 19 creative director Andy Redman. Made of rubber and cast aluminium, a chandelier has been fashioned from the same materials.

‘We’ve used a lot of nails, particularly for the furniture, where we’ve made beds of nails and covered the tops with glass,’ says Redman. Nails have been added to mannequins, plinths and T-shirt tables. On motorbike helmets and polystyrene heads, they have been used ‘to make a Mohawk of nails’, Redman adds.

A glass wall, created from 500 milk bottles, divides men’s and women’s areas, and heavy duty antique searchlights form part of the display at the store, which hosts an opening launch tomorrow.
